About us
We are Azzurra and José, the founders of PastaDI. What began as a dream quickly turned into a mission to open the first Italian pasta factory in Madeira, dedicated exclusively to the production of artisanal pasta.
Azzurra was born in Sicily, Italy, and José is originally from Madeira. They met in London and spent the first 15 years of their professional careers abroad, where they gained extensive experience across different cultures. The idea of pasta — or pasta, in Italian — was born from one of Azzurra’s long-held dreams. And since José can never resist a good plate of pasta, they decided together to quite literally get their hands into the dough.
We travelled across Italy from north to south, drawing inspiration from the magic of fresh pasta production. We combined our know-how with that of some of the brightest minds in the Italian pasta world, and we are now creating products that unite Italian tradition with Madeiran creativity.
We are building a brand that has real meaning for the community. Every pasta shape we produce tells a story of talent, smiles, and opportunity. Our artisanal laboratory in Funchal is more than just a production space. It is the place where we put our heart and soul into everything we do, while creating meaningful employment and a future for people with intellectual disabilities.
